Payday 3 is a paid co-op game from Starbreeze Studios, which is a highly anticipated addition to the PAYDAY franchise and is currently in its development phase. This first-person shoot ‘em up game follows a group of outlaws as they plan and execute various heists using teamwork and strategy to overcome obstacles and evade capture by law enforcement.
Intricate heists
Payday 3 centers around a team of four characters — Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf — collaborating to strategize and carry out a sequence of progressively intricate heists. The game’s narrative takes place several years after the events in PAYDAY 2, during which the characters have put their criminal past behind them. However, they reunite to carry out their most daring heist yet.
Set in New York City, the story unfolds in a vibrant, colossal depiction of the metropolis. As the world has shifted toward the digital era, the foursome will be seen competently adapting to modern times as they incorporate software giants, cryptocurrencies, mass surveillance, and the Dark Web into their cunning scheme. Moreover, the media begins to take their side and seemingly conceal their felonious acts.
Familiar yet filled with new aspects
Soon to be available on Game Pass, Payday 3 boasts a well-blended combination of old and new elements. Both long-standing fans of the franchise and newbies will enjoy getting acquainted — reacquainted, in some cases — with the Payday gang and the action-packed, co-op shooter gameplay. Besides that, there are also exciting new weapons, pieces of equipment, and skills that will be introduced in this title, allowing for more diverse and unpredictable heist outcomes.
Experience celebrity cameos
To provide new content for its user base, Payday 3 has teamed up with a celebrity rapper and actor. Fans of ICE-T will have fun as they find Mac, a contractor who will introduce missions to the player. One of these missions is the 99 Boxes heist, a four-player co-op where players are tasked with infiltrating a secured container storage area.
Like most memorable missions in the Payday franchise, 99 Boxes can be approached in a variety of ways. You can try going stealthily or go in with guns blazing, although the latter promises a massive shootout with local law enforcement agencies. Of course, this update comes with a new set of cosmetics such as costumes and gun skins, making the game new and unique even for experienced players.
What’s new in Update 1.1.4?
Payday 3’s newest update version 1.1.4 brings a few handy features and exciting content to keep things fresh. Headlining these changes is the brand-new progression system, where Infamy Points have replaced the previous challenges. Such a change aims to provide players with a more traditional leveling system they’re likely familiar with, allowing them to gain their footing in-game early on. The Assassin skill line has been added, as well.
To balance the game’s difficulty, the developers have implemented six rotating loud modifiers, namely Alpha Team, Armor-Piercing Rounds, Combat Duo, Crippling Tactics, Federal Negotiator, and Tactical Flashlights. There are two rotating stealth modifiers added, as well, and these are AI Surveillance and Threat Detection. Plus, a new enemy named Techie will also start appearing in heists from this point onward.
On the other hand, Mask of the Week has been introduced — this will sell fancy masks at a discounted price. Finally, three spray paint patterns, each with 10 variations, have been added to the level-up rewards pool.
